LIVING IN.... VICTORIAN TIMES

| Select from.... |
| VIC(i) | ....on the canals |
| VIC(ii) | ....on the farm |
| VIC(iii) | ....in the classroom |
| VIC(iv) | Seasons of Change Children step back in time as labourers in a 19th century farming community, at the time of the enclosures. A way of life is threatened by the coming of the steam-powered threshing machine, and by fear of having to go on to parish relief. Hands-on use of artefacts, including Victorian farming implements, helps children share in how it was. |
| VIC(v) | Yesterday's Children This is what life was like for most children in Victorian times. Children investigate in-role the life experiences of their forbears labouring in the cotton mills, the match factories, and mines of the industrial revolution in 19th century Britain. |
| VIC(vi) | 'Florence Nightingale' ....visits your class to tell her story. She will answer any questions the children may like to ask. |
LIVING IN.... TUDOR TIMES
| TUD(i) | Children, in role as employees in a large manor house in the 1580s, prepare for a Royal Visit by Queen Elizabeth I. The experience climaxes with the Queen's arrival: the children present gifts and dance for Her Majesty. |
LIVING IN.... STUART TIMES
| STU(i) | Through role play, artefacts and storytelling, we experience the time of the English Civil War of 1642, to help us understand some of our challenges today with regard to sectarian conflicts, relationships and ways of life. The children experience peer-pressure, the impact of intolerance, and decision-making, in role. An ideal preparation for the 'Citizenship' curriculum. |
LIVING IN.... ANCIENT GREECE
| GRK(i) | A marketplace in ancient Athens - a trader takes us back to the 5th century BC - evocative artefacts and interactive storytelling, the ancient world, with its gods and myths - experiential learning at its best. |
