Volunteers
We need urgently to hear from potential volunteers with some OFFICE EXPERIENCE (including competence in MS Word).
The work could involve dealing with school staff in connection with bookings, chasing up evaluations, updating our simple computerised booking system (training would be given), general office and liaison work in support of our workshop teams, and possibly assisting the Centre Manager with funding applications.
If you or someone you know might be able to work in our small office at High Close School, Wokingham, for two or three hours on one, two or more days a week (between 9am and 3pm) please contact Narinder Marwaha, Centre Manager on 0870 770 7985 or email her.
Our DIRECTOR-TRUSTEES are of course all unpaid volunteers.
We are always delighted to hear from people who have an enlightened and pragmatic view of our world, and a sense of humour. People with a natural understanding for young people's concerns and challenges. People who feel they have something meaningful to contribute to the management of this Charity and the guidance and development of its work. (We would particularly like to hear from a couple of candidates aged 18 to 25.)
The board meets for about two hours, four or five times a year, but also consults and advises as necessary by email and phone.
We are currently seeking to identify a suitably experienced volunteer candidate to succeed our present COMPANY SECRETARY (so that he can retire after 16 years of service in the role). Reasonable, agreed expenses of office could be paid.
Our teacher/facilitators are freelances – paid per diem as self-employed contractors (except for one who has been an LTA employee for some 18 years).
We would be pleased to hear from potential VOLUNTEER FACILITATORS interested in working with our workshop delivery teams – they would need to be qualified, experienced teachers, but further initial and on the job training would be given in our specialist techniques.
Such a position might appeal to former teachers who wish to prepare themselves for a future return to teaching (with added LTA skills).
Our young trainee 'gap' presenters are employees on limited-term contracts.
We would be delighted to hear from suitably able people (under, say 25) with some role-playing skill, who might be interested in working with us as VOLUNTEER TRAINEE PRESENTERS to supplement our workshop teams, travelling to schools and other venues.
Initial and on the job training would be given, subject to a reasonably regular time commitment (at least a day at a time).
